Assignment #3 – My Identity Map

Describe one of your Chosen Identities on this identity map.  What is it?  Why did you choose this identity?

One of my Chosen Identities is reading. That’s a chosen identity because I chose it. Not many people like reading but I do. It fascinates me how I can get lost in a book because it’s so interesting. My favorite genre is romance because I love how they girl and guy fall in love. And I love how they have problems at first but it all works out at the end. But sometimes it doesn’t and that’s just sad. I chose this identity because it represent who I am and people now that about me.

Describe one of your Assigned Identities on this identity map.  What is it?  Why is this an identity something that is fixed for you, and cannot be changed?

One of my Assigned Identities is that I was born in April. This is something that I didn’t choose and I can’t change it no matter what. The stone assigned for this month is a diamond. I really like diamonds and they are so pretty. April is like spring month I believe and it’s just a good month.

Assignment #2 – My Avatar

Do you think the cartoon avatar of yourself truly shows what you look like?  Explain why, or why not.

I believe it doesn’t look exactly like me because there are details that are missing. For example, I have the avatar smiling but when I smile I have one dimple which isn’t included while making the avatar. Also, the color of my glasses is an ombré but the avatar only has single colors so I can’t really do anything. It’s the details that are missing that make up who we are. But it shows a pretty general idea of how I look like.

Which parts of the cartoon avatar show chosen identities? Which parts show assigned identities? Explain your answers.

The parts that are chosen identity are the color of my shirt, lip color, how dark my eyebrows are, the color of my glasses and my hair cut. These are the things that are chosen identify because I was the one who decided what they should be. Assigned identity is like my eyeshape, face shape, and skin color. These are some of the examples that are assigned identity. I cannot just say I want to change these things so therefore they are fixed.
